P&C News this fortnight

Voluntary contribution to air conditioning is fully tax deductible

The Kenmore High P&C Association has contributed $501 500 to install air conditioning and fans in learning spaces over the past 10 years.

Our Goal for 2018 is to raise sufficient funds to air condition J Block (Social Science) and the remaining classrooms in F Block used mainly by Japanese classes. Currently, 87% of the school’s classrooms are air conditioned with our social science and Japanese classrooms being the last groups to complete this 10 yearlong project.

Since government funding does not extend to air conditioning in Brisbane schools, the P&C needs the financial support of all Kenmore State High School families to achieve this necessary goal.

The Voluntary Fundraising Contribution scheme introduced in 2012 has been critical to the success of this project to date. To enable us to achieve our target of having a fully air conditioned school, your ongoing support in 2018 is necessary.

Parents sought to establish a Chaplaincy Funding Support Group

Kenmore State High School P&C Association values the school’s Chaplaincy Program which provides a highly regarded and important service to our school community.
This year we have one full time Chaplain, Justin Prestidge. Unfortunately this is the lowest staffing level for many years, with insufficient funding resulting in the loss of our second Chaplain, Debbie Grey in 2017.  Chaplaincy is funded by a $20,000 grant from the Commonwealth Government plus donations from the community; including the Kenmore State High School P&C Association.
Unfortunately, there is still a shortfall in funding required to maintain the current level of service.  The P&C Association is now seeking parents and other community members who are interested in forming a committee to help raise funds to support the school’s chaplaincy program. Our ultimate goal is to gain sufficient funding t to bring the service back to its previous level of one full time Chaplain plus a second Chaplain who will focus on supporting female students.
If you are interested in being part of a group to focus on fundraising for the Chaplaincy program, please contact Justin Prestidge jpres88@eq.edu.au or Penny Hauenschild  phaue3@eq.edu.au
