Since 2015, the school has offered two models for student access to technology devices in the classroom and at home: School-managed Choose Your Own Device (CYOD) and a self-managed Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). These models will continue in 2021.

This year saw a strong take up of CYOD offerings all fit for purpose in our school environment as we navigated together through all the COVID challenges. We undertook a mid-year review in light of COVID constraints on vendors and their suppliers and altered offerings to present the best for our community at all times. Warranty and accidental damage insurance numbers are down again this year. The top-loading Targus case has proved the right choice also with a single warranty claim lodged across the many hundreds in use daily.

Our extensive market review led us to select Acer as sole computer supplier for CYOD into 2021.

This year our timelines have been brought forward, with COVID affecting production and delivery timeframes across all industries. We are asking for return of the 2021 Selection Guide and Order Form (PDF, 1MB) indicating your CYOD or BYOD choice by Friday 6th November 2020 via email or in person at our Finance desk (KSHS main office).

As per the selection guide, for all CYOD purchases there is the option to pay only the 25% deposit this year, with the balance due at the end of February 2021.

For families of the 300 students with a CYOD 2018 device nearing end of support, now is the time to consider options for 2021. The intention with CYOD has always been two devices through high school: One for Years 7 to 9 then one through Years 10 to 12. This split aligns with device warranties and expected usable life of a technology device.

Further information including exiting procedures for devices coming to the end of their warranty period will be released in the coming weeks via email, Facebook, website, and newsletter so please stay tuned.

We look forward to supporting your child into 2021 and beyond however you choose to proceed.
