A group of innovative Year 10 Kenmore SHS students used their creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills to emerge as the Champion School at the first stage of the 2022 Science and Engineering Challenge.
The Science and Engineering Challenge (SEC) is a nationwide STEM outreach program run in conjunction with the University of Newcastle.
Our 26 students were involved in an exhilarating day competing against six schools in fun and engaging hands-on activities such as designing an earthquake proof tower, building a bridge, making a bionic hand, water turbine, providing electricity to a city or creating a Mars Rover. Points were awarded based on their performance in the challenges.
Kenmore State High School eagerly await the results of the remaining Queensland regional rounds to determine if our school qualifies to compete at the State Final, after which the eight winning schools from around Australia will be invited to compete at the National Final.
