Congratulations to Mark Waris (Year 10) whose synchronised skating team recently won Nationals and qualified to represent Australia at the Junior World Synchronised Skating Championships in Innsbruck, Austria.

Mark discovered his love for ice skating in 2016 and began synchronised skating in 2018. He’s also a talented figure skater, placing 2nd at the Australian Figure Skating Championships in his division in 2021. His skill on the ice does not come without hard work and dedication, training for up to 20 hours a week.

Mark’s language skills from the school’s German Immersion Program will help him both on and off the ice as he competes and travels in Austria, soaking in the culture and putting in practise his German. The competition will run from 17 – 19 March 2022, with Mark and his Dad departing for Austria on the 11th of March.

We wish Mark and his team the best of luck!
