In November 2021, Year 8 student Liezel-Marié Roux broke the Junior Canberra Club, State and National record* at a World Archery registered tournament. Competing in her age class of ‘Cub 13 and younger’, she scored 894 out of a maximum of 900 points, dropping only six points in the entire tournament. The previous National record was 880 out of 900 and has stood since February 2019. The round she shot was a Junior Canberra consisting of 90 arrows (30 arrows at each distance of 40m, 30m & 20m) on a 122cm target face.

Liezel has subsequently also broken two other National records* in the AA40/1440 round with a score of 1409 out of 1440, and AA30/720 round with a score of 706 out of 720. The previous AA40/1440 record had stood since April 2019 and the AA30/720 had stood since April 2017.

Liezel, now in Year 9, currently holds ten South Queensland State records for Cub (Ages 13 and younger) and two for Intermediate (Ages 14 and 15).

We are watching Liezel’s archery achievements with great interest and wish her continued success on her sporting journey.
