The Kenmore State High School Dance Troupe Program is an audition-based initiative designed for students who demonstrate strong potential in dance and a commitment to artistic and technical growth. Open to students in Years 7–12, the program offers a vibrant and challenging environment where dancers rehearse regularly before school, preparing for a range of school functions, community showcases, and dance eisteddfods.
Participation in the Dance Troupe offers students a valuable extra-curricular opportunity to extend their skills beyond the classroom. Each troupe is guided by highly skilled and experienced choreographers and performers, including long-standing alumni and choreographer Georgia Lear, and Performing Arts teacher Mr Johnathan Vongdara.
Troupe Opportunities
All troupes are entry by audition or invitation only and explore a diverse range of dance styles.
- Dance Collectives: These troupes focus on developing dancers’ technical foundations, performance skills, and versatility. Students learn engaging routines across styles such as Jazz, Contemporary, and Lyrical, while building confidence and teamwork through rehearsal and performance.
- Dance Companies: These advanced troupes are invitation-only, catering to students who demonstrate exceptional technical ability and performance quality. The focus is on learning complex choreography at a faster pace, with an emphasis on delivering polished routines for high-level competitions and prestigious events.

Auditions
Auditions for all troupes are held in Term 4 each year for the following year. An additional catch-up audition is available at the start of Term 1 for Year 7 students and newcomers to the school.
Program costs
Participation costs range between $100 and $200 per year. This fee covers excursions, costumes, workshops, tuition, and transport.
