The Queensland State Schools Instrumental Music Program is a comprehensive tuition program in which students learn orchestral or band instruments.  It provides the opportunity for musical development of students through instrumental instruction on a group basis and ensemble experience so that students develop ensemble performance skills as an integral part of their music education.  Tuition in woodwind, brass, strings and percussion is available at all levels to all students. Students who undertake tuition at school are required to join an ensemble. Membership of more than one ensemble is encouraged.

In addition to this Government program, Kenmore SHS also offers a Vocal Music program.

Kenmore State High School offers students a variety of ensembles to suit various playing levels. Our award winning Instrumental and Vocal Music Program consists of 15 ensembles which regularly perform in competitions, community events and concerts. Kenmore State High's music program provides students with a sense of spirit and belonging, as well as opportunities and skills beyond the classroom.

Private guitar & vocal tuition is also available at a cost to students (user pays).
