The school participates in Interschool Gala Sports on various days throughout the school year. Premiership Gala Day teams progress to the Metropolitan Finals competition where they verse other schools in South East Queensland.
A range of Senior and Junior Secondary Gala Sports are available each term. Team sign-ons are advertised at the start of each term through the student notices. A full list of available sports can be found in our Interschool Gala Sports (PDF, 115KB) document.
All Gala Day and representative trial information will be advertised to students in the daily notices on the Student Intranet. For any further questions, students can see Sports Coordinator Mr Darren Kayrooz in the HPE Staffroom (upstairs in the Activities Centre).
Year 7, 8 and 9 Sport
Students are involved in a wide variety of physical activities and games at school through our CARE Class physical activity program. Each Year 7, 8 and 9 student will participate in 1 x 70 minute physical activity session a week, where they work with their CARE groups to build relationships and belonging through team work. Throughout the year, they rotate to a new activity approximately every 5 weeks. By the end of the year, students will have participated in about seven different physical activities as well as participated in cross country practice, the cross country carnival and some pre-carnival athletics events.
Examples of physical activities include:
- Space Invaders (running & challenge games)
- Ultimate Disc
- Touch Rugby 7s
- Table Tennis
- Strike Out (striking and base running games)
- Team Challenge activities
- Fitness and Wellbeing activities
Upcoming district and regional trials are advertised in the student notices and on the District and Regional Trials page. Interested students will need to see Mr Darren Kayrooz in the HPE Staffroom (upstairs in the Activities Centre) to nominate and collect the trial paperwork.
